Jean Tennant's Writer's Workshop

WELCOME!

For a number of years I've taught workshops throughout the Midwest, traveling sometimes as much as three hundred miles from home to conduct a one-day workshop. I've done this because I love the writing process, love to talk writing with other writers, and always enjoy the opportunity to fire up enthusiasm in aspiring authors who just need a little guidance to set them on the path to publication.

Now I'm happy to present this online, interactive classroom, where you will receive the same lessons I've taught in the past, but at your own convenience. You can log in and out during the week of each workshop as fits your schedule, and submit work you would like to share or have evaluated.

The week-long workshops will be held Monday through Friday, twice a month. The last lesson will be presented on Friday, and final evaluation of your submissions will be given no later than Sunday.*

HOW IT WORKS:

  • Once enrolled (payment is made through PAYPAL), your email address will be entered at the workshop site so you can read the lessons each day and submit your own writing for evaluation.

  • You will need a Google account to access the course site, with a Username and Password. This costs you nothing, and if you wish you can always cancel the Google account after the course. If you don't already have an account, you can easily create one at Google.
  • Each day's lesson will end with a brief writing assignment, which will be evaluated. You can post your submissions directly on the site, and I encourage you to do so. It's nice to have a classroom setting where you can see the postings of the other members.
  • If you are uncomfortable with that, or find it too difficult to maneuver, you can, as an alternative, submit your daily lessons directly to me through email and I'll reply in kind.

COST:

The cost of the one-week workshop is $60. This is slightly more than the price of the full-day workshops I teach at Community Colleges and through Community Education Departments throughout the Midwest, but you get it for a full week!

Class size is limited, so sign up early for the week you wish to attend. >>>

Testimonials

"The workshop was fabulous and the handouts Jean prepared were invaluable. It was the best seminar of its kind that I have attended. Jean is professional and knowledgeable about every facet of the business of writing whether your interest is magazine articles, books or scriptwriting."

"I attended one of Jean Tennant's workshop recently because I didn't know what I wanted to write or even how to begin. By the time the day was finished I had a much better grasp of the writing basics, how to format a novel and the encouragement I needed to get started. I would take Jean's workshop again in a heartbeat!"

I recently attended Ms. Tennant's Writing Workshop and enjoyed it very much. She is certainly an expert in the field of writing and as a presenter was well prepared, organized and enthusiastic. The information, advice and tools she shared were so helpful to me as a novice writer. I learned much in the process and am more determined than ever to keep working on my writing skills and story ideas. Thank you Jean.
