JEAN TENNANT'S WRITERS' SEMINAR & WORKSHOP

 

Jean Tennant's Writers' Seminar & Workshop is for anyone interested in writing books of fiction or nonfiction, magazine articles, short stories, children’s books, poetry, scripts, religious essays, personal experiences and other works.

The topics to be presented include "Selecting a Great Manuscript Idea," "Sharpening Your Writing Skills," "The Markets," "Income Potential," "Locating the Right Publisher," "Literary Agents," "Writing a Query Letter," "Negotiating an Author’s Contract," and "Copyrighting Your Material."

The one-day event lasts from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with an hour break at noon. (The same workshop is also available as an evening class, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., with a short break at the halfway mark.)

Seminar presenter Jean Tennant has published seven novels, as well as more than 200 short stories and newspaper articles. Her novels have been reprinted in several languages, and her short stories and articles have appeared in numerous internationally published periodicals. She has presented seminars and workshops throughout the Midwest for the past several years, and has been interviewed on television and radio.

Participants of the Writers' Seminar & Workshop will receive a great deal of useful information, as well as individualized guidance aimed at helping them realize their goal of publication. Pre-paid participants of the workshop are invited to send up to 10 pages of text to Jean Tennant, either through mail (PO Box 476, Everly, Iowa, 51338) or e-mail (Jean@MidwestWriter.com) to be critiqued and returned on the day of the event.

HOW TO WRITE A CHILDREN'S PICTURE BOOK

 

Jean Tennant's How to Write a Children's Picture Book seminar & workshop is for anyone interested in writing and/or illustrating a children's picture book for possible publication. The information is practical, and by day's end participants will know exactly what to do to write, illustrate and market a children's picture book.

The one-day event lasts from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a one-hour break at noon. (An evening workshop, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. is also available) Topics to be presented include "Definition of a Children's Picture Book," "Developing an Idea," "Writing for Children," "Illustrations for Your Book," "Copyrighting Your Material," "Finding Potential Publishers," and Income Potential."

Topics to be presented include “The Popular Nonfiction Market,” “Deciding What to Include and What to Leave Out,” “Writing with Emotion,” “Steering Clear of Common Pitfalls,” “Where to Submit Your Work,” and much more.

MOVIEMAKER AND YOU: Turn Your Photos into a DVD Slideshow—It’s Easier Than You Think!

Instructor Jean Tennant brings her years of business experience to guide you step-by-step in turning your digital and film photographs into a DVD slideshow that includes transitions, music—all the bells and whistles. Participants are to bring their laptops for an even more comprehensive two hours of instruction.
